How do I cite sources properly?

Proper citation means following the rules of the style assigned in your class or major. The most common citation styles are APA, MLA, and Chicago. Rules for these styles are listed in books available in the Library, but for most students' needs, shortened versions of the rules are enough. You can find some of these in the Library's online citation guide. Handouts explaining citation are also available at the Reference Desk.
