Circulation Policies
CUNY's current library borrowing/circulation policies can be found at https://www.cuny.edu/about/administration/offices/library-services/policies/circulation/ .
As of 2023, policies are:
- Loan length:
- Regular loans: 16 weeks (for all user groups; exceptions can be made at the service desk)
- Reserve loans: 2 hours of in-library usage
- Renewals:
- Type: Patron-initiated (i.e., no longer automatic)
- Regular loans:
- Quantity: 2
- Length: 16 weeks
- Maximum loan length: 48 weeks
- Reserve loans: Renewable if no other students are waiting
- Overdue fines:
- Regular loans: Amnesty continues
- Reserve loans: As dictated by campus library
- Lost loans:
- Regular loans: Turn to lost 60 days after items are due (overdue notices to be sent 5, 10, and 15 days after due date)
- Reserve loans: As dictated by campus library
- Recalls:
- If an item is recalled, the loan is shortened to 4 weeks from the date of recall
- Recalled materials not returned on time accrue fines of $1.00 per day.
